Make sure you update your content frequently (weekly at a minimum and if possible, daily). No one wants to go to a site that contains old information.

Default WP is good at SEO but specific plug-ins and techniques make it great. I am convinced that Wordpress will maintain a leadership role in the blogosphere for a while to come. Seems that folks who stick with TypePad, etc. do so for niche reasons that I don’t quite understand.
